Is Viagra safe for impotence treatment?

By: preyank_jain chotaliya

Viagra has been around for a decade now. If there were any occurrences of grave Viagra side effects, surely by now media would not have missed it and publicized it up to unbound limits.

However, no drug is a wonder drug and the odds are more in the favour of it having serious side effects. Viagra was the very first drug for the treatment of impotence. For men suffering from impotence, Viagra was like an answer to all their prayers, a solution to all their problems and an end to all their frustrations. This resulted in Viagra being more successful amongst people even if it meant having to deal with its side effects.

Many men suffered from headache, nausea, and nasal congestion after taking Viagra. However, the attitude they carry is more carefree and do not give much attention to side effects. All they do to stave off side effects is drink plenty of fluids (non-alcoholic) and take decongestants or tablets for headache.

The most serious side effects of Viagra are abnormal vision and they were more common at 100mg doses. Apart from this, there may be other side effects also. But, straight from Viagra users, the benefits of Viagra far outweigh the side effects. So for now we can assume that Viagra is safe for impotence treatment.

Viagra® (Sildenafil Citrate) is the first of three breakthrough oral treatments for male impotence, or erectile dysfunction (ED), currently available with a prescription throughout the UK. Viagra works in response to sexual stimulation and works by relaxing the thin layer or muscle used to regulate blood flow into the penis. Once enough blood has entered the three corpora (tube-shaped structures) within the penis this result is an erection.

Viagra is in a class of medication known as Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors, which improve blood flow to the penis, enabling men with erectile dysfunction to respond to sexual stimulation with an erection.

Viagra is available in 3 dosages - 25mg, 50mg and 100mg. Usually a patient will be prescribed the 50mg dosage, with the option of this being increased to 100mg if the results experienced are found to be less than hoped for with no adverse effects. Alternatively, this dosage can also be dropped to 25mg if the desired effects were achieved and/or if adverse effects were experienced.
