Most of us find that when it is hot our normal makeup is not great. Not only does it make you feel uncomfortable but it also slightly melts on your face. The aim of this article is to give you a few tips on how to keep your makeup fresh in the summer. The place to start your summer makeup routine is at night. To get a fresh tanned look, apply tanning lotion at night to get the best effect from it. Remember to rub it in properly, including the hairline and the neck. This will ensure you do not get streaks or white lines. Tanning lotion is a great way to get a summer tan without going into the sun as well as getting an even skin tone to your face. It is also important to ensure you remove any dead skin cells that you have. This can be done daily when you shower in the morning. Using a very gentle exfoliator on a daily basis will keep your skin fresh and clear. We would also recommend having a deep exfoliation on a weekly basis. A good thing to use is a face peel. This will exfoliate the skin deeply without being harsh. After you have showered and cleanser your face you need to dry it carefully. When your face is dry use a light moisturiser on your skin to lock in your cleanser. It is a good idea to allow your moisturiser to set before you apply your makeup. Leaving it for about 10 minutes should be enough time. This will allow your makeup to go on smoothly on a dry fresh face. In the summer it might be a good idea to use a tinted moisturiser. This will allow you to without using foundation to help to keep your skin clean and fresh. If you do decide to use a foundation it is important to use a mineral based, light foundation. It is probably a good idea to avoid oil based foundations or those that include talc. Once you have got a smooth, clean look to your face it is a good idea to add some colour to your cheeks. We would recommend using a gel blusher. The best thing to do is to apply a small amount just below your cheekbone. You should then blend your gel blusher upwards towards the temple. Make sure you remove any blusher that gets on to your temples. This will help to accentuate your cheek bones and give you a sun kissed look. The best way to finish your look is with mascara and lip gloss. As it will be hot it is a good idea to use a waterproof mascara. One light coat should be enough just to add some colour to your eyelashes. When you apply your lip gloss, keep it to a neutral colour so that it looks natural. There is also no need to line your lips when it is hot. This will help to keep your look as natural as possible. When you go out you should take your lip gloss with you so that you can refresh it on a regular basis. The above tips are just advice and you need to find what works best for you. It is important to remember though that the more natural you can make your look the better.
