Using Coconut Oil for Acne

By: Eric Minden

Acne is one of most common skin conditions in the world, affecting more than 40 million people. Acne can affect any one, male or female from the ages of eleven to thirty. Acne is most commonly found on the face, chest and back. Many people still have signs of acne well into their forties and even fifties.

Many times acne is associated with a bad diet; many people say that too much chocolate will cause breakouts. A poor diet will cause your hormones to rage, thus triggering breakouts. Stress can also cause breakouts; this is due to hormones being out of control and excessive amounts of food being out into the body.

Knowing that stress can trigger acne you should try to cut back in the amount of stress you have in your life. If you have a stressful work life, you should try to separate work life and home life. This will reduce the amount of stress you have in your life thus cutting back on frequent breakouts.

While you are trying to reduce stress in your life, keep doing what you are doing as far as cleansing your face and body. Be sure not to scrub or use abrasive cleansers, the harder you scrub and the harsher the chemicals you use on your face, the less reduction you will see.

There are several natural home remedies used to treat acne; you may have to try several to find one that will work best for your skin type. To start, men should shave carefully and try both electric and safety razors to see which works best for you. For the best acne treatment, apply virgin coconut oil to the area daily; try it on a small hidden area for a day or two first to be sure you will not have a reaction to this oil.

The best idea is to always seek natural treatment for any skin condition. Treatment with raw apple cider vinegar will work better on your skin if it isn't noticeably irritated from acne medicines, acne products or other failed treatment. Over the counter treatments are good for reducing the redness on the skin due to the amounts of other chemicals you have already used but they are not good for healing acne completely.

Coconut oil is purely made of lauric acid. This is known to be a very good anti-bacterial agent as well as anti-viral and anti-fungal. The properties found in lauric acid help prevent infections caused by bacteria and helps in fighting acne. Acne is caused by a bacterium known as Propionibacterium Acnes.

Reduce the appearance of acne on your back, chest and face with all natural coconut oil. Just apply a small amount on the affected area and begin to see results in no time. Before you begin using this treatment you should talk to you doctor, this will allow you to ask any questions about this remedy and also make sure it is right for you.
